This is not your basic baked pasta. This is the rich aunt of baked ziti. Creamy layers, meaty sauce, melty cheese situation on top—basically comfort food wearing designer.

It’s cozy, indulgent, and the kind of dish people ask for the recipe before they finish chewing. Let’s make pasta that feels expensive (without actually being). 💅🍝

    Why This Recipe is Awesome

    • Ultra creamy center layer
    • Loaded with cheesy goodness
    • Perfect for family dinners or gatherings
    • Tastes even better the next day

It’s called “million dollar” for a reason. It tastes like you tried very hard… even if you didn’t.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

    • 1 lb ziti pasta
    • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
    • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
    • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
    • Salt & pepper to taste

    Creamy “Million Dollar” Layer

    • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
    • 1 cup ricotta cheese
    • ½ cup sour cream
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
    • ½ cup grated Parmesan

    Topping

    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
    • Extra Parmesan

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
      Big pasta energy incoming.
    2. Cook the pasta.
Boil ziti until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
    3. Cook the meat.
In a skillet, brown ground beef or sausage. Drain excess grease.
    4. Add sauce.
Stir marinara and Italian seasoning into meat. Simmer 5 minutes.
    5. Make creamy layer.
In a bowl, mix cream cheese, ricotta, sour cream, mozzarella, and Parmesan until smooth.
    6. Layer it up.
In a baking dish: half the pasta, half the meat sauce, all the creamy layer, remaining pasta, remaining sauce.
    7. Top with cheese.
Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan generously on top.
    8. Bake.
Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10–15 more until bubbly and golden.
    9. Rest.
Let sit 10 minutes before serving so layers set.

    Common Mistakes to Avoid

    • Overcooking pasta before baking. Mush city.
    • Skipping the rest time. You’ll get a cheesy landslide.
    • Using cold cream cheese. Mixes poorly.
    • Being stingy with cheese. Not today.

    Alternatives & Substitutions

    • Turkey or chicken instead of beef.
    • Add spinach or mushrooms to sauce.
    • Use cottage cheese instead of ricotta.
    • Make it spicy with hot sausage or chili flakes.

This dish is flexible and forgiving.

    FAQ

    Can I make it ahead?
Yes, assemble and refrigerate, then bake.

    Can I freeze it?
Absolutely. Freeze before baking for best texture.

Why is it called “million dollar”?
    Because it tastes ridiculously rich.

Can I use penne instead of ziti?
    Yes, pasta shape isn’t dramatic.

    How do I reheat leftovers?
Oven or microwave with a splash of water.

    Is it super heavy?
    Yes. That’s the point.

    Final Thoughts

Million Dollar Baked Ziti is cheesy, creamy, and pure comfort food luxury. Perfect for feeding a crowd or just treating yourself like royalty.

Make it once, and suddenly you’re “the person who makes that amazing baked pasta.” That’s a title worth having. 👑🍝
