- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- Optional Maple Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- (Optional) Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies.
Notes
- Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for best flavor.
- Do not overbake—cookies will firm up as they cool.
- Chill dough 20 minutes if cookies spread too much.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
