Ingredients

  1. Cookies
  2. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  3. ½ tsp baking soda
  4. ½ tsp salt
  5. ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  6. 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  7. 1 large egg
  8. ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  9. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  10. ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  11. Optional Maple Glaze
  12. 1 cup powdered sugar
  13. 2–3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  14. 1–2 tbsp milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  8. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
  9. (Optional) Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for best flavor.
  • Do not overbake—cookies will firm up as they cool.
  • Chill dough 20 minutes if cookies spread too much.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
