Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk (or any milk of choice)
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
- ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm (not boiling).
- Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until fully dissolved.
- Add the chocolate chips and continue whisking until melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.
Notes
- For extra richness: replace ½ cup milk with heavy cream.
- For dairy-free: use almond, oat, or coconut milk + dairy-free chocolate.
- Make it spicy: add a pinch of cayenne or cinnamon.
- Make it peppermint: add ⅛ tsp peppermint extract.
